To mark the 75th anniversary of The Folio Society, the English translation of Michael Ende's The Neverending Story has been published in a lavish luxury edition, beautifully illustrated by Marie-Alice Harel, an award-winning artist with a flair for the fantastical.
In the run-up to the anniversary, the publisher had its readers vote on which book they would like to see in a collector's edition – and the choice clearly fell on Bastian's Adventures in Fantastica.
The resulting luxury edition is a feast for bibliophiles: printed in two colours throughout, it captivates with more than 30 line drawings integrated into the text, eight large-scale colour illustrations, coloured initials before each chapter and elaborately designed endpapers. The page-edges are refined with a surrounding illustration, and the binding is made of shimmering, copper-coloured art silk.
Details, further images and a video clip can be found on Folio's website.
